Foundation

Foundation program in the UK is a preparatory program that prepares students who have studied in another country with a different curriculum in English and academically to be accepted to undergraduate departments of UK universities. Turkish students who want to study for an undergraduate degree at a university in the UK have to take 1 year of foundation (preparatory) education because high school education in the UK and Turkey is different.

A student must have a sufficient command of English to participate in Foundation programs. Within the Foundation program, students are given English language supplements. However, the student is expected to have a certain level of English (IELTS 4.5 - 5.5). The Foundation program prepares students for the undergraduate programs they wish to study, such as business, finance and management, programming, law, art and design, engineering, social sciences, medicine, science and pharmacy, media and humanities.
